In order to plan our video, we created a brief storyboard to help us visualize certain shots and the order they should go in. This also helped us visualize how we would use our props and when we would need certain costumes and locations. We kept our descriptions short and simple as we were aware a lot of changes might happen to our plot once we start filming and other factors have to come into consideration. Therefore, we just included location, shot type and scene type (narrative or performance etc) in these descriptions so we din not become too fixed on one idea.
This was not the first storyboard we made as we had a significant change in ideas which meant we had to scrap most of our first when we removed the plot. This was due to our decision to move from a fixed narrative to a more abstract theme with narrative elements. This led to us removing a large scene where our couple would have been seen shopping together before arguing, followed by the attempted strangling scene. We decided too much narrative could make our video look too amateurish so we agreed to keep the strangling scene but scrap the rest as we believe it would look more effective without a reason justifying the action. This would also keep our video looking less like a short story.
